Re: FTTP Packages BT

Virgin use the same hardware as other cable companies in Europe. The capability to deliver was there, in some areas without doing anything other than changing the limits on the tiers as the required channels were already in place.

That there was no business case is a different matter.

As I said it was more the certainty that it couldn't happen in the future that amused. If BT drop prices on FTTPoD and deploy it more widely VM can't match it. They can, and have, while FTTPoD has become more expensive, can't be ordered, and FTTP is still very slowly being released, mostly with public subsidy.

Perhaps the VM comment was a bit of an in-joke and went over the heads of people who don't know much about cable or how VM's network stood at that time, in which case my bad and you were right to call me on it.

It also wasn't really necessary, it was out of order, so apologies due to GMAN.

Trying guaranteeing any speed across an Internet connection, over a leased line between two known points guarantees exist but once you hit shared backhaul it becomes a lot harder.

I suggest people (not just one person) back down, and go away and have a calming cup of tea.

Thanks Andrew, already calmed. I was a tool and the man, rightly, called me on it.
