Non-Plusnet users can now post on the forums including: https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-To-The-Premises-...

However the response is always that the trial is for existing customers, as described above.

Zen is an alternative to BT, but I don't believe they're cheap (my workplace seems to block their website...)

A fair answer, thank you.

On your second point, why do you think that the other 'big 2' Sky and Talk Talk, are choosing to provide service using the Openreach FTTP product ?

On why the other two are NOT providing, cost of the cable link - but that seems set to change in near future.

Oh? So there might be more FTTP options in the 'near' future?

There's also the issue of voice, which on a line where FVA is used might cause some issues. Presumably there's a way of breaking out the FVA service and attaching to the MSAN uses by an LLU operator, but that might involve some awkward complications on configuration management, especially as the fibre link will not necessarily be terminated at the original exchange where the copper loop ended. Not such an issue is WLR is used of course.

I believe that the use of FVA may be optional for voice, but I suspect it's another of those complicating factors for LLU operators that might make the integration effort even less worthwhile given the small number of FTTP lines, often in areas unfavourable to LLU operators.

As far as links go, do GEA-FTTP and GEA-FTTC require separate physical ports? Both are fibre interfaces, and by their nature the handover points tend to be at larger exchanges where LLU operators are more likely to have a presence already.
