Interleave Depth..

Hi, looking for some advice, when I first had FTTC enabled I was getting around 54mb and was pleased, I must be about 250m from the cabinet, anyway my dog kept knocking out the filter from the socket as the clip on the filter was broken, it took me ages to sort out properly and in the meantime my speed dropped down to 27mb guess DLM saw I poor internet connection and tried to account for it by reducing speed.

TalkTalk wont help because my speed is above the minimum that open reach say I could get - albeit slightly.

They replaced the router as they thought this would help, but didn't make much difference, this was mid April and since then my speed has increased back up to 35mb and my line has actually been solid, it stayed up for 21 days before the connection reset itself.

Looking at the stats below should I be worried about the interleave depth? is this something that I can raise a fault against?

But before all my problems it said this..

FTTC Range A (Clean) 69.8 49.9 20 14 -- Available
FTTC Range B (Impacted) 60.1 35 19.9 9.7 -- Available

Is there extension wiring in place at your property ? That's rubbish speeds at that distance.

I am around 180m from my cabinet, and get full sync.

Thanks for the reply, yes I am plugged into an extension, but even when left plugged into the master socket for a few weeks it made no odds.

I wish I had sorted out the filter so much sooner.

With a sync of 35,495 Kbps maximum speed tests over Ethernet to router should be in the 31 to 33.5 Mbps region.

The DLM will relent if you are seeing low numbers of errors, i.e. best to just leave it alone once you've made it as stable as you can.

Ok thanks, but how long should I leave it before expecting things to start moving? I have left everything alone since the 14th April and the speed has only increased by 10mb and my interleave depth has only got worse.

Seems to take a number of weeks at least and the fact that you have seen some increase in that time suggests DLM is working on the line.

The key to whether DLM is happy will be in the error stats, e.g. FEC/CRC counts

But when in the master socket was this with the frontplate off to negate the effects of the extension wiring ? It really makes a big difference.

I just wanted to update this thread, after around two months with one small increase and no change in my interleave depth suddenly I had an unexpected reboot this weekend and my speed has now increased to 45mb but more interestingly my interleave depth has dropped from almost 3000 to 5.
