What router do you have, and can you see the WAN statistics in its GUI? In particular Connection speed, Attenuation and Noise Margin (SNRM).

What result from the checker do you get for your neighbours' phone numbers? Do they all now give the distant cab instead of the nearer one?


None of the other apartment owners whose phone numbers I have are with BT so I can only check by address/post code. All apartments are listed as being on the non fibre cabinet now, conflicting with what the engineer who set up my phone line told me.

Depends on what was doing the download, e.g. if the files were compressible some ways of downloading would have achieved that.

A reminder to be clear with the units you are using.

b = bits
B = bytes

k = thousand
M = million
m = milli (on thousandth)

So far, you've described speeds as 10mb, 1.2mb, and 150-200kb. They're not all the same unit, and I suspect you mean 10MB, 1.2Mb, and 150-200kB respectively.

2GB in 5 minutes is 6.7MB/s, or 53Mbps. Probably faster than the (new) top speed of Infinity 1. Quite possibly the top speed of the wifi.
