For Mr Saffron -The link to Openreach Superfast Broadband website under tbbs Broadband Availability Checker page no longer works probably because its now changed to: http://www.homeandwork.openreach.co.uk/when-can-i-ge...

Im in West Wales and am in scope for FTTP. The upgrade to BTs main Where & When page (as above) does not indicate any FTTP progress update for me. However, if I use the Check Availability Tool controlled by BT on the Welsh Government website (http://gov.wales/topics/science-and-technology/digital/infrastructure/superfast-broadband/step-two-availability/?lang=en) it reports that my Fibre Journey is at Build Stage with an estimate of being able to order within 6 months as long as engineering build goes smoothly.

This article: http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2016/10/premise... indicates the BT Where & When checker update will only work for locations in Wales and is part of a trial that BT Openreach are conducting alongside the Welsh Government.

I thought the old version also showed when FTTP was planned and accepting orders. It just didn't show any of the stages in between which is what I think is being updated in wales judging by the article.

Yes, before FTTP use to stay at stage 1 and then jump to 8 when it was live.

From that article:

Fibre-to-the-Premise

I'm not going to lose any sleep about it, but I wish people would stop using the word "premise" in this context. It's always "premises", even if it's one building, or even a one-roomed flat or whatever.

Actually I might lose sleep about it.

Nobody seems to want to know, including our acclaimed editor who I have prompted many times about it. It only really started in the forums about a year ago.

A premise is something entirely different from a building or buildings.
A house or building ...

alcohol is not allowed on the premises

([treated as singular]) the three had negotiated a lease for a premises in Boothstown, Manchester
FTTP is Fibre to the Premises, not Fibre to the Premise.

Oddly I get this when entering my telephone number into either the Map on the WG site or the Openreach Where and When Map:
We need to do some further checks. Please enter your postcode for the most accurate information about your premises.

However When entering the Postcode it now states on both maps:
Openreach is laying the fibre that will serve your area. You can't order a fibre service today but Openreach currently estimate you will be able to within 3 months, as long as the engineering build goes smoothly.

With the timeline pointing to the build stage.

That is odd, I have always used my phone number for checks, my custom auto checker app also checks by phone number.

Just checked again by my phone number and full address and the results are the same.

But at least they are giving a little more information now.

Hmm a little worried. The page recognises our postcode but only list even numbered houses. All the odd numbers are missing and our new house is one of those. I hope they update this quickly, I don't want a delay in ordering.

Postcodes are normally only for one side of the road.

Also try your phone number to do your checks on the Where and when page.
