Roadworks aren't planned that far ahead from BT from what I know.

I've seen them appear one day for work to begin the next so just because it doesn't show anything for the next 12 months doesn't mean nothing will happen in the next 2 months.

I have seen near me BT requests for work to be done 6 to 8 months down the line, Virgin Media have done the same.

So it does happen.

Yes the exchange does look like a converted brick shed

Most of the houses are either old thatched cottages, 10 plus years old "executive homes" or converted pub, school etc.

Going by P1s postcode, where it is shown on Code Look is about as close as it can be as the crow flies.

What is odd to me, is that there does not appear to be planned roadworks in the area in the next 12 months.

Maybe the fibre cabinet has been installed and is just waiting for the cabling and due to issues its been put on hold?

At the location it says the cabinet should be, is there anything?

As for nothing on the roadworks site for the next 12 months, might be right, but I have seen in my area work that just pops up to be done in the next week or so right up to being several months, so it can happen.

What you also need to understand, only stuff that require planning will show up, so if no road or pavement closure or digging up stuff, it might not even show up on roadworks.

I know a chamber down our road had o be enlarged to the new common sized one, this required the pavement to be closed off and bollards to be put up in the road for pedestrians to safely walk around it, this work was on roadworks 4 times before it was actually done.

Now the work at our Splitter Node (i.e. the re-splicing of all the fibres) which is located the bottom of our road on the corner wasn't even listed on the roadworks site.

So like I said not everything is.
The connecting of power and actual fibre cables should be though.

I had a look a couple of weeks ago when I drove through that area and saw nothing, not even an old cabinet.
I did see some old BT chamber covers when I went for a walk down there a couple of months ago.
With a few days off, I will go for another reconnaissance trip.

I think SEP Suffolk is just running behind schedule that's all, cabinets 4 and 5 went live on 1st October (i.e. not long ago) cabinet 6 was also due the same time as cabinet 1, so they are both behind schedule.

Have you contacted SEP Suffolk, if so what have they said?

Given your ADSL downstream attenuation I would put your whole line at less than the distance that CodeLook has from you to the cabinet.

I find that mouselike.org tends to get the position of cabinets quite accurate, and it suggests for cab 1, is near "STRADISHALL CROSSROAD" (junction a143 and b1063) which looks quite near your postcode.

It doesn't if you can get fibre, all I get is the following:

Mapping data not found for POSTCODE.
We may be able to research this information, e-mail a request to [email protected] along with the info on this page.

It works fine when you cannot get fibre, like the homes the bottom of my road, but the top of our road and us it says it cannot map our location.

I did think it was where we have FTTP, so I did some checks for FTTC areas and all that could get FTTC also couldn't be mapped.

If you cannot get fibre and wanted to locate your PCP cabinet if you have one that is, then this site is fine.

It looks like I've found the mysterious P1 cabinet.

It is less than 600m by line run away and in totally the opposite direction from the Code Look location.
So if they ever install the new cabinet, and it is in the same location, I may be able to get 50Mbps to start with.

I wonder where power might come from ... no street lights or illuminated signs close-by.
