speed droping

my speed keeps dropping but if i turn modem and router off and on again speed goes up for a time then goes down again

Is that your sync speed, or throughput? Wired or wireless? And what if you turn of either the modem or te router?

And what models of modem and router do you have?

FWIW Remember lots of us on standard BT supplied modems can't see our "sync speed"! tongue

However those on BT Wholesale circuits rather than Sky or TalkTalk-based can run the BT Wholesale Performance Test and proceed from the initial results page to the Further Diagnostics.

Pasting the contents of the two text boxes of results on the diagnostics page enables us to calculate the sync pretty accurately, and also have a fair stab at which Openreach product is being used.
