Its a bit unusual, certainly.

I guess it can happen if BTW and Openreach equipment (in the head-end exchange) are in separate buildings, and there needs to be some extra duct installed. Or perhaps a power upgrade is needed.

Looks like you and I are suffering from the same problem. Have a look at my thread http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/fibre/t/4526743-lon...

According to AndyHCZ 3 cabinets connecting to the headend exchange at Hereford have a problem, he said one is at Pontrilas but that is very close to Wormbridge, I am on Trumpet exchange and ordered FTTC with PlusNet on 21st November last year when it said it was available and have got nowhere since then.

BT wholesale have promised a fix in December then January but just keep putting back the review date. I was hopeful that something was about to happen on the 14th Feb, there are some roadworks scheduled just outside the Hereford exchange in Breinton Road but the description is vague "access required to underground structure to restore service" which doesn't tell us much.

I have received an update from Plusnet that the next review date is the 27th Feb, the guy dealing with my ticket repeatedly tells BT that the timescales given are unacceptable but it does not seem to have any effect. I don't like the sound of a 9 week delay, I've been waiting over 11 weeks already!

Well that's not good news, doesn't make me very optimistic.

It's so so frustrating. It's amazing how far behind some locations are in terms of technology. :|

Well at least we are going to get FTTC at some unspecified future date and in quite rural areas, others are not so fortunate. What I find odd is that the checker still says FTTC is available and has done since I placed my order apart from a few weeks around the turn of the year. Just to add to my frustration I have a noisy line that's causing my ADSL to resync randomly, still nine weeks might be long enough for BT to fix it before FTTC arrives!

You should try being on one of the 4 exchanges that don't even have ADSL - 3 of which are in West Sussex (although some of the area affected in West Sussex has a wireless solution available - not sure if it covers the full footprint of the 3 exchanges though).

Yes, get that noisy line fixed before VDSL complicates the issue, with its much higher but lossier frequencies.

Though your problem seems to be more related to ... a shovel.

It actually sounds more like bureaucracy to me.

One of them at least has also gained VDSL2 now (if memory serves me right - it was one in the LR-VDSL trials)

Interesting, I hadn't heard that (not that I have kept too close an eye on it).
