Each dot represents a postcode with the chosen layer available. So change the filter that is set when you open the link to 'Openreach native FTTP' and you will see black dots that each represent a postcode with FTTP.
Different levels give different speeds or types of service so Openreach VDSL/FTTP give red / amber / green dots for under 4Mb , 4-24Mb and over 24Mb.
Virgin are purple so you can have different layers all visible at the same time , However the dots will overlay on each other where it applies to more than one layer.
AS the poster says there are a couple of FTTP dots in Ashington centre the rest is FTTC, with no sub 2MB and only 1 sub 10Mb.
