Seems strange but whatever floats your boat!

There'll likely be a few changes to G.fast between now and 2020, similarly, I expect the modems will improve too.

Can get 300/20 with cable in my area but I won't having Virgin Media because they never get 300Mbps speed (more likely 10Meg until 2am) I just glad I left virgin media in 2014 to have more reliable and always spot on 75Meg with Plusnet FTTC. Happy with it. I rather wait for Plusnet G.Fast come along.

I picked one of these up in PC World for £200.

It has made an immediate improvement to my upload speed. I was getting around 32 with my Business Hub 5 and now it is pushing 46.

My download speed has dropped - but I think that might be due to the DLM kicking in. I had several disconnects while setting up the new kit. Partly as I experimented using the built in modem or the Openreach one via the WAN port. Also the latest software update has removed G.Fast from the Auto Negotiation settings so you have to specify it explicitly and it took several attempts before I realised that.

I have now been connected for 44 hours with no errors and a downstream SNR Margin of 7.5 and an up of 11.2. Interleaving is on - but I have no way of telling if it was before as the BT Hub wouldn't tell me that.

Hopefully the error free state will continue and the DLM will take another look.

Well you can now do a reboot and it should remove DLM, My understanding is that it checks every 15 mins. I have done this after 24 hours and got my full speed back.

Phil must be bored, It's sort of random.

He's right about VM though, it's dire round here too.

I've just got ADSL with Freeola for a backup instead of getting TT to do it - different network bit of redundancy I thought.

Not sure if/when this G.Fast will hit - not even sure if I could get it anyway

I'm moving to an area which is being set up for wireless up to 1Gbps - but not sure if that will be any good either. It's been featured on here in a story, I forgot the name though.

Edit. RuralBB I think.

Well I did, and it didn't!

Having read various different articles on DLM and how it operates I'm now going to leave things be for the time being and see what happens.

Mine arrived yesterday morning. An impressive piece of kit, except for one small flaw. I have a /29 of public IP addresses from my ISP. This works perfectly fine on both my Belkin F5D7633UK-4A and Linksys WTR54GR ADSL2+ modems from 12 years ago. However, I can't find a way to specify to this Asus that its LAN IP should be ().().().217 on a subnet of 255.255.255.248 - it seem to only want to work on 192.168.*.* As such, it's an expensive doorstop. Has anyone else managed to get it to work with a LAN IP assigned to a public range?

Richard
