Not always.

Some routers are much better and dealing with errors and are able to attain and maintain higher connection rates.

It's not a router, it's a modem.

I agree that certain modem code is better to attain and maintain higher connection rates.

I don't, however, agree that this is a factor in the OPs experience.

Ooh, such the pedant wink

Of course it could have been G.INP enabled then removed for some reason, or a crosstalker, or a lower noise margin as already mentioned.

Without before and after stats it's pretty impossible to say.

Or there was a power cut and the OP was one of the first back on. Then cross-talk increased and after a while DLM decided the error rate was too high.

Is an HG612 or ECI modem? The stats can be obtained if it is an HG612 v 3B.

The OP's modem is a modem/router in bridge mode. Just like the suggested alternatives can be configured.

It's a modem and router, set up as a modem in its default configuration.
Its lack of Wi-Fi makes it no less a router.

Actually, it is a HUB.

You get Modems which do the interfacing from the customer equipment to the line; Routers which manage the routing of incoming data to the various ports and provide facilities such as DHCP; and Wireless Access Points.

A Hub consists of Modem and Router and maybe a WAP too.

I certainly do know what one is.

So, what is a BT HUB5 ?

It comprises a Modem, Router and WAP.
