I don't recall Leeds being amongst the pilot locations.

Not a bad picture of provisioning considering what it took to get the first cabinet there at all.

It isn't. Openreach are clearly in the process of the commercial rollout in a similar manner to FTTC.

It seems quite dissimilar at the moment. For FTTC, exchanges were announced well in advance, even though the individual cabinets weren't publicised at all.

Perhaps BT have learnt that advance planning & publicity just creates unwanted anger.

I believe Openreach only announced the trial exchanges publicly for FTTC no?

BT will make an announcement about commercial G.fast launch (perhaps during 2Q results) but there won't be any specifics about cabinets as this is distributed to ISPs only. I am confident that G.fast will be commercially launched in BT's 3Q (most likely end of Nov/start of Dec).

BT already committed to making ultrafast/at least 100Mbps available to 12 million premises by 2020. The build to meet that target is already underway.

possibly but also I think certain isp's dont want certain info public.

Hint - lookup the isps that blocked openreach been more involved with end users last year.

Andy's above post also has a hint on this.

Yeah - "I can see a green cabinet at the end of the road next to mine, WHERE IS MY 1GB CONECTION!!!!!!!!???".

I think the spread of G.fast cabinet extension pods is wider than a lot of people think; as I've posted before, I'm 99.99% sure I've seen one in a very "average" street in Shotley, in Suffolk. We're not talking about Cherry Hinton here, and although it's in Suffolk, it's a long way away from Martlesham. I will have to provide photographic evidence when I next go there, it's near some relatives.

Have we got a photo of a G.fast pod open yet (in detail)? We need one. Yes, I know it'll only be a load of Huawei units, but some people might be able to ascertain... things from the vital parts. And don't say it's impossible, I got good luck a while ago and was able to post the inside of a FTTrN power cabinet; although obviously that was far less interesting. It's better than nothing though.

Bottom image

Possible 4 x 12 port line cards. That image shows 2 installed on the left.

48 block connectors on the right linking to the copper in the PCP.

Space for more below when they bring in 24 port line cards (96 in total) however the Vectoring calculations are a bit beyond the current chipsets and cooling possibilites in the cab.

I thought I was told it won't start G.Fast to commercially until Q2 next year?
