Have you been explicitly told they are installing fibre right to your premises? What you just described sounds like they're preparing cabinet 3 to get fibre, which means you can order FTTC, not FTTP.

It's extremely rare for OpenReach to renew/replace copper. I wouldn't expect them to be doing that whatever technology is coming.

Some postcodes on cabinet 3 are showing FTTP is on the way and others nothing, so its a lottery for now - plus checkers are not 100% reliable particularly at this stage of a rollout

The fine gentlemen of Openreach returned today and have installed a blue pull cord from a nearby pavement chamber to where the old "BT" house ingress point is located.

No time scale given of when they would be returning for the fibre delivery

What do you mean by " the old "BT" house ingress point" is it at your property? I can't understand why they would do this unless you have ordered an FTTP service. So not sure what's going on.

Ingress point I mean the grey plastic moulding that covers the hole in the wall where the telephone cable goes through.

An Update
Openreach gents have visited on many occasions since my last post; I even saw one working on an aggregation node next to cabinet 3, which was Thursday 18th October some 10+ calendar days ago.

I would have hoped that all the Connectorised "distribution" points that were placed in various footway chambers on the estate have all been connected back to the aggregation node by cabinet three and it too has connected back into the Openreach network.

It�s getting rather frustrating being unable to progress in obtaining FTTP.

The next bit of my query is actual suppliers of FTTP over the Openreach network I assume are still limited to five?

When I had FTTP (On Demand) installed, it took ~ 3 weeks for the above checkers to update to 'native' FTTP availability at my address once the physical work to my doorstep was completed. I believe a few weeks are required for the final testing phase & checks to be completed before the service shows up as available.

Some good news

Checking the availability sites as previously listed, I found:-
WBC FTTP Upto 330 Upto 30 -- Available

So patience does sometimes pay off, not bad length of time from when I commenced this forum thread;

FTTP appears to be available to a portion of the cabinet though ("Exchange LANGTREE is served by Cabinet 3" ).

I've ordered 80/20; so hopefully I won't be the only one taking up the new facility, time will tell.

I've been quoted 4 to 6 weeks delivery and a "free router".

I'll give a progress update as and when.
