Well she can be forgiven, even a light tug on either the phone or dsl cables can sometimes cause the faceplate to come adrift smile

I bet the NTE5C will be redesigned soon...

The SSFP part of the 5c is on its second revision. The actual 5c is on its second revision also, so I doubt there will be any significant changes.

I think my spare NTE5C is the second rev and as I have so little confidence in the product I've ordered a Mk3 Interstitual FacePlate from the EvilBay (£8.85) for when FTTC arrives. My old rev 1.0 ADSL faceplate has been installed for about 12 years now - so I guess it could do with an update.

ISP's:

Stechford (CMSTE) Cab 50 - Phase CEO Escalation 19a - Huawei (almost complete)

I've been very impressed with my MK3 since installing just before I got FTTC. Extremely reliable and good speeds.

Sounds like you may need a normal NTE frontplate as I think your current one replaced this, and the suggested MK3 requires the original frontplate to terminate extension wiring on to ...

Sorry, that wasnt entirely clear was it.

I know what you mean.

I do have a spare NTE normal faceplate from when a 2nd line was installed back in the 90's

Just replaced my old ADSL V1.0 with the Mk3 faceplate.

Now I know it's not a great leap forward, but my ADSL line is syncing 300k faster than it previously was. I did have a 200k speed bump when I changed the supplied RJ11 cable on my Fritz box with a .5metre Cat6 cable.

So a .5mb upgrade by simply changing a couple of things. I wonder if these changes would scale up with a VDSL connection?

Was previously connected at 7,8 Mbit/s - 882 kbit/s
Now connecting at 8,1 Mbit/s - 882 kbit/s
