Well its clean and dry at least .

Not really 'yours' to play with though.

I'd replace with gel crimps in an empty BT80 myself.

Unless you are worried about aesthetics, I would just leave the box where it is but take out the screws and use a couple of jelly crimps to join the wires.

How come the incoming wires that are in use look silver, but the ones in the yellow skin look copper?

They're all copper but the ones that look silver are "tinned"
