Hmm exec complaints are not technical, they are just very good at speaking with the right people and making exceptions. I'm looking forward to tomorrow smile

I had one EC Lady phone a while back before we got FTTP, she stated she knew everything about fibre due to it was her job to know.

I started to get technical to her and I confused her.

Don't get me wrong some of their staff do know some stuff, so they are wrong sometimes in what they say.

they were trying to be technical! laugh

I was getting a bit off with the lady called up so I said i would give her all the christmas presents if i was wrong about the speed increase laugh
Haha, well that did the trick then! BT do not by standard allow you on a higher tier unless the openreach database shows speeds above the tier, the reason is they don't want you to bring down the speedtests for that tier.

Anyone with a speed estimate below 15Mbps cannot even order Infinity, they get a different product, something along the lines of "Faster Broadband" - it's all a play to keep the reporting looking good.

Did they offer you a decent price for infinity 2?

I'm paying what I'm paying now for infinity 1 which is about 37 Inc line rental.
I'm surprised they are doing it as well based on how the conversation went but they agreed and have the upgrade confirmation via email.

Exec complaints have a job, that is to get the complaint closed without it escalating e.g. you going ombudsman. They are usually very flexible, before calling you they will likely have had a good word with technical etc, noted the bt wholesale speedtest estimates and records at their end and assumed you're another person expecting 80 meg when your lines capable of 40.

£37 for Infinity 2 isn't too bad at all, likely they are expecting the speeds to remain the same, and couldn't be bothered playing with pricing etc. Out of interest, who was your ISP before - you started the thread hinting you couldn't believe you had gone with BT? smile

So line resync'd this morning and as predicted I'm 80/20...

Downstream Upstream
Line Coding (Trellis) On On
SNR Margin (dB) 16.6 21.7
Attenuation (dB) 12.7 0.0
Output Power (dBm) 13.8 4.9
Attainable Rate (Kbps) 115401 36672
Rate (Kbps) 79987 19997

I've been with BT for a couple of years. I only said BT with reservation at the beginning because some people aren't that keen on BT.

Even when G.INP is re-enabled i doubt that will dump much bandwidth, i have plenty of overhead openreach sabotage me tongue

I'm looking forward to the call back from the exec complaints team if they do but i suspect they'll want to close the loop wink

They will call you to confirm you are happy and they can close down the complaint. Hopefully stuff like this feeds back into the overall process, as you shouldn't need to go to complaints to get something like this actioned. Happy days anyway!
