Only BT available

We recently had fibre (FTTC) installed on our street - it went live within the last week.

But only BT allow us to order fibre at the moment. I'd like to order with Plusnet as they're cheaper, but everyone apart from BT says we don't have fibre.

How long does it usually take for other ISPs to offer fibre?

Give it a few more days checking the ISP's DSL Checker (if they have one) some times it can take a while for other ISP's to get the update.

Presumably you're on a Market 1 exchange. Although I'd give it a week or so, I seem to recall ordering fibre from Plusnet (Market 1 exchange here) nigh on a couple of days after our fibre cabinet went live.

Only down side is that if you are on a Market 1 exchange and even though you have more choice, you'll still pay more than other people connected to other exchanges get charged.

Yup, had the same issue, our cabinet went live the day before I found out, tried to order with TalkTalk (our ISP at the time), and had to switch to BT because apparently only BT get access to the cabinet at first, not other ISP's, they're later.

Interesting. I think the cabinet had only been live circa 24 hours though, so made sense.

Even 3 years later, I've still had no luck with ordering Talk Talk. Seems their equipment has to be in the exchange before you can order from them. Sky, BT, Plusnet and a raft of others would be no problem as long as they use Openreach.

Isn't Sky the same as TalkTalk...

They won't be available to customers unless the exchange where the fibre is fed from has Sky/TalkTalk's Point of Presence kit.

If this turns out to be the case then Plusnet/BT it is or any provider that supplies Broadband service via BTw service.
