I have the same decision to make, Zen have a not insignificant price advantage as well as being a 1 year rather than 2 year contract. I'm slightly concerned about the single thread issues which are reported about them, although they appear to have a plan to sort it out.

Please report back as to your experience - our FTTP deployment has just completed testing I believe we're just waiting for backend updates then I can order.

Our FTTP was activated yesterday following the BT Openreach connection on Friday.

The whole process went very smoothly and Zen have been excellent throughout.

That's great to hear, ours is scheduled for Friday next week, our neighbor is having a BT supplied service fitted a week tomorrow (despite ordering a couple of weeks after me!)

What delayed the activation - I was under the impression it was live on the day of installation?

The delay was due to BT Openreach not updating the database to say that the installation had been completed. As they don't work over the weekend I had to wait until Monday.

Ah, I wonder if that will apply to me as well, we're down for a Friday AM installation...

Ours was AM as well. The Openreach engineer had only ever done installations with BT hubs so only managed to test the line. If you set up the Zen router prior to the visit you may be able to get a faster resolution if the engineer chases it up for you.

As Andy says, get the Fritzbox set up before the installer visits, and you should hopefully be able to test before they leave .... note though that Zen dont pay Openreach for a managed install, so the installer doesnt have to test the Zen connection.

Not sure about the task not being closed thing Andy was told ... have done two for Zen, and with co-op from Zen (router settings) was able see connectivity before I finished/closed the install task.

Install was this morning, live by 11:30am smile it's quite a revelation going from 10mb adsl to 300/50 FTTP!

No issues with job being closed etc.. changed the PPPoE login details on my Ubiquiti router from my ADSL account to the Zen one, swap the cables & we were up.

The new ONT arrangement is big, thankfully in a cupboard under the stairs, the installation engineer was saying distribution of stock is a problem at the moment, he'd also come from about an hour away from me.

300 Mb must be fab. I can't even imagine what the dizzy speed of 10Mb would be like at the moment!

Glad it went well , yep the new ONT/BBU boxes are somewhat unwieldy.

Maybe it is just the Fritz boxes that need additional tweaking in the set up ?
