The new ONT arrangement is big, thankfully in a cupboard under the stairs, the installation engineer was saying distribution of stock is a problem at the moment, he'd also come from about an hour away from me.

Glad it went well, we went from a 3 to 5.5 Mbit ADSL2+ to 300/30 FTTP and we are loving it.
We still get the buffering now and then on Twitch, but its Twitches end.

Not sure how you got the 50Mbit upload, even BT don't sell it yet for FTTP.
BT Wholesale, say we can get the 50Mbit up, sadly BT says its not available for us.

But will try again in a week or two.

As for the ONT, I have the original one with the 4 data ports.

I ordered on 22nd December, after the new tiers were announced, didn't seem to be an issue. Out of interest, if you use the old DSL checker does it show 30 or 50 available for upload? Ours changed to 50 earlier this month, I'd assumed
it was just a blanket available to all type thing. It's certainly working at 50 up - both speed test & syncing a bunch of videos into Onedrive got to 50ish upload watching the stats on my router.

For anyone who's interested here are some shots of the new ONT (I've since tidied up the cabling!) & analog socket setup (which is a bit of an ugly hack, but it's hidden & we don't use it anyway:

Maybe it is just the Fritz boxes that need additional tweaking in the set up ?

I did initially set it up with the Fritz router (we previously had 2 ADSL connections which the ERL handled along with a bunch of QOS stuff which I didn't want to touch until I knew it was really working), came straight to life on the Fritz router. The installation engineer did say more often than not the installations aren't live when he leaves - issues in the exchange & the provider often need sorting out.

Yeah, mine shows up as 50Mbit up and has done for a little while now shown >> here <<.
I phoned BT the other day and they said they can see BT Wholesale showing it, but cannot see any way to upgrade us to it.

The funny thing was she said I could upgrade to the up-to 10Gbit up and down (business connection), sadly that's out of my price range LOL.

So something isn't right, I know that there will be about 6 or 7 (with a maximum of 12) FTTP connections on our Splitter Node due to BT deciding on giving everyone else FTTC

Like I said I might give it a little while and then phone BT again about this.

BTW was the price between the 30 and 50 up the same or was it more for the 50 up?

Just checked Zen and it says the following (btw I can get both FTTP as well as FTTC):

Yeah your actual ONT is the smaller single data port, all enclosed in a case that hides all the cables between the BBU and the ONT.

Ours is the old 4 data port version, but ours is on the wall with a sideboard next to it so its hidden

Our Master Socket hasn't the FVA Faceplate due to I wired the cable from the ONT to the Master Socket and just disconnected the copper line from it.
I am not a fan of the extra face plates that stick out more than required.

Your situation sounds like BT Retail struggling with a new product, when I called plusnet to cancel ADSL the chap on the phone was convinced they sold FTTP at speeds faster than 80 Mbps.

We're the first in our road on the DP, our neighbor has ordered FTTP but it's not in yet.

Thankfully it's under the stairs so the large ONT box isn't an issue, Openreach have some more work to do there to tidy the solution up.

They used to, in the early days of their FTTP trial. Those who took the higher tiers are still on them. The Plusnet rep may have come across a couple of these customers.

Yeah, BT only do the 300 as well, so its possble due to overheads.
Well we have had our fibre for just over a year, but back then it was 300/30, its just recently (about a few weeks) showing up as 50Mbit up.

Well its not really a new product, but just an update to a current one, so possibly just a confused sales staff member.

Yeah, ours was the first order on our pole the lower end of our road (our road and side roads are split over two PCP cabinets) addresses on both were upgrade to FTTP back in 2011/2012 only top half of the road and their side roads went live back then.

We were very quick to order FTTP when it showed up only for our pole, which was a result from loads of emails from my local MP and myself to the CEO and Chairman of BT.

Then a year later the remaining lower part of the road and side roads got dropped to FTTC, even though the FTTP hardware is all there.

We also have 2 Splitter Nodes for our road and side roads and our Splitter Node only consists of a single fibre in and about 6 to 8 of the used possible 12 out.

Yeah, sadly they wanted to install it as close to the Master Socket as possible, so I moved the Master Socket under the front bay window not far from a power socket.

Ours is sort of neat and tidy, I might tidy it up and cable tie it later on when I get access to it.

I suspect BT Retail's ordering systems aren't fully aligned with BTW's new FTTP tiers yet, for some FTTP premises the old Infinity 4 (330/30) still shows, for some (like me) the newer Ultrafast 2 (330/50) is now showing:

I get the following when I check my address on the BT site.

Ultrafast Fibre isn�t available where you live right now
You can still get speeds of up to 300Mb with Unlimited Infinity 4. So there�s nothing to stop you streaming, gaming, watching and downloading at home.

I might phone BT again Monday and explain that Zen can provide me with the 50Mbit up and see where it goes from there.

Was the 50Mbit up the same price as the 30Mbit up?
I know the ISP's are paying the same for the two.

Why would u want 50Mbit upload for? Any reason for this?
