In reply to a post by Karen032:
Your help with this would be much appreciated.

I did post last week but the reply seems to have gone missing.

The gist of the post was that my folks have just moved to Vodafone and had poor throughput from their router on wireless.

To fix it I turned off the 2.4GHz signal (may show as 802.11b/g/n) and enabled WPA2 only. I set the 5GHz (802.11a/n/ac) to a different channel that was showing as relatively clear and it instantly improved stability and throughput.

Just be wary that the 5GHz signal will not penetrate through walls etc as well as 2.4 so check that signal in the furthest areas from the router is still usable.

Same as my advice, but I say keep 2.4 on.

name 2.4 and 5ghz a different name, switch to a channel that is not 36 on 5ghz to avoid the sky ssids. Use 5ghz only.

Here if you have an older device eg ps4 early version, it can still connect to 2.4ghz.
