They might, or you could, go back out of the wall and run external ethernet cable round yourself to where you want it. Or most handymen could if you don't fancy doing it yourself.

If you supply the cable they might even run it for you, including the drilling and push-through plus weather-sealing at each end, given the customary coffee/tea and biscuits. (Newton figs are the favourite of at least one ).

If you do it yourself or get someone else in, don't forget a small drip loop below each outside entry point.

The FTTP line and grey exterior box is on the far left of my house and my office is on the far right - would they be able to run an exterior cable along the front of the property and put the ONT box in the office (where its situated atm is the dining room).

They will install the ONT where the fibre comes in (i.e. far left side), but you could run an Ethernet Cable from the ONT to the far right where you can place your router.

For our install they did run the Fibre cable around the side of the house, to get the ONT to a cupboard (on an external wall), the installer was more than happy to be flexible (helped that there was already a hole with a CAT5 cable coming through which he was happy to use). So long as you're not making his life really hard I don't see you having a problem with getting the ONT sited where you want.

Funny you say that, we were discussing that same thing here the other night, we could never go back to ADSL2+ with a very inconsistent phone line that died when it become windy and when it rained heavy etc.

Now its like when we need to download something its just there, uploading huge files in the several gigabytes range only takes about 20 to 30 mins where as before would take 13.5 hours, so its a huge better now.

Well, that is the exact issue we are having here. ADSL rated at 2.5 / 0.5 Mbps if no rain/wind etc. I had to run 5 ADSL lines here with a loadbalancer. So plenty of issues to care especially during the Jan/Feb months. So got lucky by initiating a Community Fibre project and �most� of the neighbourhood signed up! So it was a great cost sharing project. So... also I did had some issues to get it this far.

Openreach finished all the street works, they told us last week they pass it on to publishing team to get this into the database... so.... checking every day, but they did say 2 weeks. So it means end of this week or next. You can imagine how eager I am to get rid of those 5 ADSL modems, ADSL services, copper lines and load balancer for 1 �neat� FTTP.

What you could of done was before the external work was done, was to ask them if it was possible to install the CSP Box the other side (i.e. far right side) of your building.

I know our Master Socket was moved to our left side of the bay window here and they was going to install it that side, but I asked for our CSP to be installed the right side of our bay windows and also explained that the power socket was on the right side also.

They were very polite and installed it the right side.

But since your CSP has already been done, that part is too late, but like I said there is nothing stopping you from installing an Ethernet Cable to place the router in your office, the ONT isn't that big and they install all parts close together.

Well its too late for them to have the fibre moved due to the CSP is already installed.

Also the fibre cable they install going from the CSP to the ONT isn't that long (well ours wasn't) so the only option would be to use an Ethernet Cable either between the ONT and Router or have the router by the ONT and run the Ethernet Cable from the router to the nearest Network Switch etc.

Either make the Ethernet Cable yourself or buy a premade one to fit etc.

Nice, yeah we had loads of issue like all the BS for BTOR / BT etc which went on for 5 years and that was with all the fibre hardware installed.

We finally was able to order FTTP October 2016 then BT either removed the old FTTP hardware or just the Manifold and then installed a fibre cabinet and then moved everyone else over to FTTC, so only lines on our phone pole connected to our PCP can get FTTP.

Every time I ask BT why I get told there is no FTTP infrastructure down my road.

Anyhow I am glad its all resolved now

Please be aware if those copper lines are not to be used and you cancel them you will get charged, we found that out when we moved our phone line over to FVA, the sad thing was we wasn't told of this when ordering.

I think it was about £35 so if you cancel all of your 5 lines that would become £175.

So I would also query that with your provider.

The cancellation thing does seem to vary a bit - we had two lines, one with plusnet & the other Sky, the plusnet line had a cease fee applied, the Sky one did not (which was what I expected - from memory there's an openreach charge applied for their lines, which may not apply to unbundled ones).

The longest pre-made kit is 30m Paul.

ALWAYS easier to run externally I reckon.

If under around 25m, then that�ll be fine I�m sure.
