FTTC speed question

[link to this post]

Hello,

Was wondering what speed the line could be capable of doing
cabinet/line is around 195m away probably more like 200m.

were one of the first here to get FTTC installed here by 80/20 Plusnet and was 63mbps download and 14 upload and idk when but speed decreased to 50mbps and 10mbps upload both without G.imp for the past 2 years without any drops or disconnects

I thought at distance It would reach at least 70 mbps and 19mbps upload

That what the DSL checker said on clean, defiantly on impacted though.

did try and call plusnet about it, the first time they said nothing was wrong while the phone are crackling and internet had dropped to 2 to 4mbps and then the second time, within 2 seconds said there was a fault and said it was a battery clip at the cabinet for the slow internet... yeah.. tried to get the ip profile reset but they said it would do nothing and the engineer found nothing wrong and said he would reset it but never happened.

Recently got a hg612 and unlocked it, it said g.imp is now on and the cabinet is also huawei and soon to be switching to sky internet.

Could It be AL line that's causing this? or Just a lot of cross talk? or both?

Interested In what you all have to say, thanks for reading.

What router are you using - is it the PlusNet Hub One? Your SNR margin looks high - should be around 6dB so you should have a higher sync rate on your line. If you have a quiet line now then it is worth asking Plusnet to reset DLM - they are now able to request this without an engineer visit. When you switch to Sky it should reset anyway so perhaps just wait for the switch?

My estimated line length is similar at 215m and I got 72000 downstream with an ASUS DSL-AC68U router and 79997 with a Draytek Vigor 130 modem.

Hello, thanks for the fast reply.

I'm using a tp link archer c9 and huawei hg612 for modem,
I tried to get it reset but that never happened.. guess I'll just wait for the switch.

should switch to Vigor 130 modem? that seems like a big speed improvement,
so in theory the line could support 70?

Your attenuation suggests a line of 200 to 250 m, which ties in with your guess. The SNR at 8.4 is possibly due to you being banded at 55Mbps with an achievable of 63Mbos - or it may just be that you sync'd fairly low.

You could have some very noisy lines running with yors or plenty of external noise and as you have never been up at 80 it could be purely external noise sources.

What about your internal wiring? Were the measurements taken with it all disconnected? And using the test socket? If not, try getting a set of stats that way and see if there is a significant difference.

From those stats the line is capable of 62Mb.
DLM has capped/banded the line at 55Mb. You connect at this every time.

You are also likely further than 200m with those stats. The line doesn't always go the direction/route that you think it might.

yeah, I think there is a alot noise and cross talk, the speed has dropped alot since the post and errors have gone up, people connected to the same cabinet and pole across the road seem to get full sync. I will investigate further.

before you look at buying anything else. I'd do a test sync, on the test socket inside the master socket and then go from there.. Otherwise you will be chasing too many variables at once, whilst not starting at the start point!
