AIO DSLAM and FTTP

I live in a small rural community still without fast broadband, but recently there have been some changes. On a telegraph pole there is a notice from Openreach saying they are planning to install a AIO DSLAM there. Also on the broadband checker it says they are planning to install FTTP.

The question is, is the AIO DSLAM able to provide FTTP or is it that the website is incorrect (ie they changed the plans since that was updated)? Or am i going to get FTTC only? The latter makes more sense but just confused by what the broadband checker says.

FTTP is nothing to do with the all in one dslam

The fibre for FTTP may pass close to the cabinet but will be heading off back to an aggregation node, usually 1 per area of 1,400 premises

And what exactly does the broadband checker say?

Thats what i thought but wasnt sure.

The notice says "Openreach proposes to install an all-in-one superfast broadband digital subscriber line access multiplexer and copper cabinet (AIO DSLAM) at this location as listed above...."

The website (scotlandsuperfast.com) says for my location/phone number "Your property is currently planned for upgrade to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP). This means it will be directly connected to the fibre network rather than through a fibre cabinet."

Use the *telephone* or *address checker* options, not *postcode checker*.

It could be a cabinet, or someone writing the notice has worded it wrong and referring to a FTTP splitter on THAT actual pole.

FTTP is appearing as part of the Digital Scotland programme, but plans do change and some areas end up as a mix of FTTP and VDSL2 - so it is wait and see.

We have even seen hardware arrive and then disappear to be replaced, so even spotting the cabinet is not a guarantee
How far are you from the pole?

The openreach website says similar to the digital scotland website -

Your area is currently in our plans to be upgraded with Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), however we follow a different design and build process for FTTP so you won't see updates at each stage. Once the engineering work is completed there is a commissioning period of up to eight weeks before an order can be placed. When you are able to place an order you will see the Accepting Orders message.

Looks like you will be getting an All in one Cabinet.

That's the plans that have to be publicly posted to allow BT to install.

Had similar when BT were installing a new PCP and DSLAM in the grounds of their exchange to address EO issue in my village.

There will be a planning application with your local council showing the same plans

So presumably that means we are actually getting FTTC rather than FTTP despite what the checker says?

There could be a mix of both with some getting FTTP if they are deemed to get low speeds from FTTC.
