Wanna be able to use my Openreach modem with username. Cheers for all information.

All OpenReach FTTC services use identical details for the DSL link.

The white OpenReach modems need absolutely no configuration. There is no password to sync with the DSLAM (FTTC cabinet).

PTM, VDSL2, Profile 17a, VLAN 101.
This is already setup in the OpenReach modems.
If you are in any doubt or have already made changes then simply hold the reset button to restore the default configuration.

You only need to change the login details for your ISP on your router.
Most ISP's use PPPoE with a username and password.
With Talktalk you need to select IPoE on your router. No username or password is required.

Its now back on the waiting list and talk talk have messaged and canceled my order as no port. I though when you order and place an order the port is reserved then? Last Saturday they accepted the order and now there saying unable to provide and order has been cancelled.

The port is allocated upon OpenReach accepting the order.

With some ISP's the order forms will be linked and orders processed automatically. Others ISP's may pass orders through periodically.

If a port fails in the meantime they may give priority to the existing subscriber who needs their port changing.

No idea to be honest. What I can tell you is there's no way Talktalk put the order in instantly and OpenReach are only just declining the order today unless something did break (faulty ports are common).

The ordering system used to have lots of failed orders and ports being lost during migrations but that hasn't been the case for ages.

A failed repair of the DSLAM ports. They'll be back out to repair and retest the spare ports before accepting orders.

I thought it was something along these lines.
Failed orders due to lack of ports is nowhere near as common as the early FTTC days.

I wouldn't expect out to have taken 6 days for the ISP to get a rejection from OpenReach for a normal occurrence.

Ok so my cabinet has port issues? Talk talk have rejected the order which was a really good price. Annoyed really Ive lost it ha. Plusnet have said they can get a line fitted this Thursday from Openreach now and when I spoke to the bloke he advices when he spoke to Openreach they didnt mention anything about the cabinet being full. Is the cabinet level available to people who work with FTTC orderes. Would someone here know the percentage of how full it is? Im worried its at 99% percent and dont wanna be in a situation where I have to wait years for more space/new cab to be fitted.

Any ISP can get you a line installed. That won't help you with getting FTTC though.

It doesn't matter if an order is for a new line with FTTC (referred to as a "SIM provide") or for an existing line adding FTTC. They will both reserve a port on the cabinet once a successful order has been placed.

It might be quicker between ordering and activation if you already have an active line. It might not though.
You can miss out on new customer deals and cashback incentives by not going for a SIM provide (new line + FTTC simultaneously).

I would keep checking the broadband availability checker daily (or more often) particularly just after midnight if possible. I've noticed in the past when my cabinet had a waiting list that any brief changes to available occurred around this time.

If it is a considerable number of ports that have failed and can't be repaired they may swap the line card out.

Also another question if anyone can help. If the cabinet is full and they have to increase to the 384HD. How long does that work take to complete? Is it weeks or a couple of months?
