Yes, good point forgot about that. I suppose that's a very good reason why they haven't rolled out vectoring, even two Huawei cabs couldn't vector between each other.

Yes, they can. Node-level vectoring.

You can't have Vectoring where there are 2 different DSLAM's situated.
The ECI would kill the Vectoring on the Huawei in that situation.

OpenReach would need to route different cable bundles to 1 DSLAM and other bundles to the other DSLAM to isolate them.
They would then need to ensure those cable bundles stayed isolated at every single stage of the D-Side.

That leaves you with the same problems as ECI line card Vectoring. Order systems aren't designed to cope with this kind of thing. It would be a logistical nightmare to organise if it was even possible.
Maintaining it would be even worse.

Can anyone explain to me what a bundle is? Ive never heard this term in the industry, and it only seems to be used on internet forums. Same as pit or chamber when they mean jointbox or manhole.

Surely a bundle is just a cable? 50 pair, 100 pair, whatever?

Well not everyone reading this works in the industry or know all the technical terms OpenReach use.

Rather than saying multi-pair cable it's quicker and easier to say bundle.
I've heard engineers reference "cable bundles" in the past.

Amazingly enough I've never heard anyone ask what a cable bundle is, or what a chamber is for that matter. Especially not an OpenReach engineer.

OpenReach actually refer to them as chambers in most of their developer documents.

A little petty and pedantic if you ask me smile

edit: to add, the term "bundle" is used all the time in "the industry" when referring to crosstalk and vectoring, the topic being discussed.

Ive never heard an engineer refer to a bundle. If its a 50 pair cable then thats what you call it, if its a 100 pair then thats what you say!

I think chamber and pit came from the cable industry. Theyve always been called jointboxes inside the company. Anyone that joins and calls them pits gets swiftly corrected Its a jointbox not a pit!! smile

Maybe they use chamber for developers so that theyre using the same terminology as Virgin Media. It wasnt an attack on you, Im just curious to know where all of these terms are coming from, thats all. Some of your posts make me think you do actually work for Openreach though, but then bundle and chamber threw me off!
