vigor 2762 errors

[link to this post]

I wondered if someone could help me make sure sense out of my vdsl stats please.

My connection disconnected today about 9 hours ago and I want to know if I have any problem with my line. I've been monitoring it for the 9 hours and I've noticed ive had 149 far end es errors and 70 crc errors is this normal or would it indicate a fault somewhere?

You can't have more ES than CRC.
It's the other way around.

The DrayTek upstream ES figures don't reset properly so they confuse the hell out of me.

You have G.INP on the downstream. It's a very effective error protection that's why you see very few errors on the downstream.
Several hundred upstream ES per day is normal for many lines and no real concern.

Thanks for the reply John

What I did is I jotted down the figures when the connection came up and must have got my calculations wrong, would be lot easier if draytek showed the up-time figures not accumulative. I've looked again this morning and from what I can see it looks like there has been 372 CRC errors and 360 ES does that sound more likely and normal for a line then? How many errors would be to many for vdsl?

The DLM limits used to be 1440 or 2880 ES per 24 hours (depending on ISP's chosen profile).
With G.INP active I believe this to be lower but you have nothing to worry about.

If the upstream ES gets too high then DLM will enable G.INP on the upstream, provided your modem supports it.

Not being familiar with Draytek, (Lantiq?), stats, I can't see what tells you that downstream G.INP is active there. With Broadcom modems on G.INP the downstream interleaving is always greater than 1.

Ahh OK cool well at the moment things are still stable not had any more drops since yesterday morning still not sure why it happened though. I have noticed that I can get 9-10 es errors within 15min but then sometimes only 1 within the same time. Originally I was thinking it could me my equipment but from from what you've said performance seems to be OK.

Yes I believe it's a Lantiq chipset but don't really know much about any of the other stats i.e what tells you G.INP is enabled, maybe John would know?

ReTxEnable : 0 1

The Lantiq stats jumping between DS/US and NE/FE (near-end/far-end) is very confusing. The ReTx figures are back to front.

AH yes, I see it now. Thanks John. I simply missed it, expecting it to be further down. D'oh blush

I think there maybe a issue somewhere John as I am getting disconnections everyday other than one early afternoon on Tuesday they are around 6:15 in morning. I can't understand it but I do know we don't have anything set on a timer for that time.
