I'm not certain but I think NowTV uses all the same infrastructure as Sky it is just sold under different model. <snip>
With NowTV the technical experience should be the same as Sky.

You are correct re Sky & NOW TV.

Confirmed... When there was a recent outage I received text message status updates from Sky, despite being on a Now TV contract.

Getting back to the speed.... I'm on the Fab Fibre package, which is advertised as an average of 36 Mbps and I was getting about 37-38 until recently. The other day when I got up in the morning I didn't have an internet connection, and the router automatically redirected me to its home connection pages asking what kind of BT socket I was using, getting me to asking me to unplug the cables to the micro-filters wait, plug them back in etc.... I knew there was nothing wrong with my home set-up but went along with it anyway. At the end of the process, it reconnected me and the speed test gives me 53 -54 Mbps and it has been stable at that value ever since. It seems that they have upgraded the connection and made me go through the same set-up palava that you have for a new connection.

I'm not complaining but has anyone else had this upgrade? I'm on the Watford Exchange

Sky recently dropped Sky Fibre Unlimited (the up to 36Mbps service) and are upgrading their existing customers in certain areas to Sky Fibre Max (the up to, I think, 63Mbps service) free of charge.

Maybe NOW TV is doing the same? Fab Fibre here too, so will keep an eye on my connection with great interest to see if same happens here!

My daughter has had the same email from SKY

Hello Joanne,
Great news! We're upgrading our network, area by area, to bring you Fibre Max with faster average speeds of 63Mbps at no extra monthly cost.

What happens next?

These upgrades start in December and run through to spring. During this time, you will be moved automatically from Fibre Unlimited with an average download speed of 36Mbps, to Fibre Max with an average speed of 63Mbps. That's 75% faster and you don't need to do anything.

MASSIVE CAUTION

If you are not already nailing 36 Mbps you are not going to see any benefit, the wording of this email unless very carefully targeted is going to cause them more trouble long term than good will.

Perhaps I should have kept quiet. It is back to the original speed today.
