FTTP Pricing structure

[link to this post]

Still waiting for FTTP to be setup here in my village in the sticks but was wondering how much are people paying for the BT 330 / 30 & 330 /50 packages.

At the moment I am paying for a miserable 1Mbps ADSL line £42:99
Plus BT Sport £12
Plus the BT Sport HD Pack £6:50

Totalling £61:49p

What sort of price changes can I expect when FTTP fibre does actually get here.

FWIW I will be staying with BT as they are pretty good apart from the miserable ADSL speed which none of that is their fault.

Been with BT over 10 years now and will I get anywhere trying to haggle over the phone when the time comes.

Wouldn't you be better at least at the start going for the bog standard FTTP 55/10 or 80/20?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests 35-45Mpbs down, 9-15 up.

I always phone up BT when our contract is almost up, I find I get a better overall deal and it has always paid off doing so.

You might be lucky and have that deal you made over the phone auto start at that point or when your current contract runs out, but remember to confirm what you agreed to before you get off the phone, a few times they got it wrong, so getting them to confirm the deal you both agreed on helps.

Also don't forget that £42.99 you pay also includes your line rental so you are paying about £23 to £25 per month for just your broadband.

I won't say exactly what we pay for the broadband but its not that much more than what you pay, but I had to work hard to get our current price.

Also enquire when phoning BT once FTTP is available to you if you can pick a lower speed package and possibly upgrade a bit later if that speed isn't enough, they might allow it, I know a neighbour of mine did that and BT was fine wit it, but I think you are allowed to do this a certain amount of times a year, so you might need to ask about it.

That way you are not paying for speeds that you may not require.

We picked the 330:50 (Ultrafast 2 Plus) due to I am more interested with the up speed, if they did the 200:100 or 100:100 I would of gone with one of those.

Like at the moment if I create video content with a file size of 20GB which some have been it would take me with our current up speed of 50Mbps around an hour to upload to YouTube or Twitch.

But the current price we pay I think is rather good and worth it and would renew at that price at a heart beat.

Oh you beat me to it LOL

BT let one of my neighbours do just that and they were able to change to the next package up and try that until they got the required speed that suited them.

Thanks for those replies guys and certainly worth considering.

To be honest we as a family want to get upgraded to SKY Q and think about having the Netflix package so that along with kids watching YouTube etc we wont know until that time comes exactly what we need but the 330 package would without doubt cover it.

Just thinking ahead right now.

In my place there are two adults, and often up to 4 18 to 22 year olds as well.

My 80/20 FTTC service seems to fit the bill.

I took 80/20 on WBC FTTP for £33.99 pm including voice (over fibre, no copper line here) fixed price for 18 months. BT confirmed that I have the option to upgrade to a higher data rate any time without penalty, but it will trigger a new 18 month contract from that date.

Huh? What? How on earth is that possible? I must be totally spoilt! BTW I'm sure 80/20 would more than cover your requirements, as I expect would 55/10.

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/isps/bt the current package pricing

The 55/10 FTTP is likely to be cheaper than your existing ADSL for the first 18 months
