Interleaved after service change - normal?

Does anyone know if its normal to have interleaving applied when switching packages?

I moved from BT Infinity 1 (Up to 55Mbps) to Plusnet Fibre Extra (Up to 80Mbps)

Since the migration my pings have gone from 10ms to 18ms and my max sync has gone up too.

No re-syncs occurred. Line has been stable.

Sadly i can't check if interleaving is enabled as my modem TP-Link W9970 doesn't have detailed stats. But its rock solid and on a FP BT connection i never had any errors, they always reported 0.

To be expected when going between products (and also happens to me when migrating) DLM may remove interleave over time again, or apply G.INP or other tweaks if Huawei DSLAM

If you went from 55 to 80 then there will have been a resync at that time

That cleared it up for me. Yes i did have a resync on the switchover, but i left it well alone and let it get on with it.

With it being 3rd party modem/router, BT cut off at 4am. Logged a load of auth errors, but was synced with a different actual and max... switched the credentials over and it came online around 1pm.

Solid ever since. Glad to hear interleaving it typical in this case. I shall wait until its removed and get some sync back. Thanks

Something similar happened to me a couple of years ago when I moved from PN to IDNet. It went from 65/19 (where it had been for several years) down to 55/19 - the first time I'd ever seen it below 60. Stayed that way for six months then, in slightly odd circumstances, jumped back up one Saturday afternoon and has been there ever since.

Maybe G.INP was activated? Are you connected to a Huawei cabinet?

Yes, I am. What struck me as a bit odd about it was that it took so long for the line to recover back to where it had been for several years previously. I can only assume that the DSLAM threw away its historical information about my line when I changed ISPs.

The other thing that was odd was how and when it recovered. I started a large upload (several hundred gigabytes) then went out for the afternoon. About 15 minutes into the upload my connection dropped and the modem (my original HG612) was unable to re-establish it. I had to power cycle the modem to get the connection back at which point it was running at its original speed. The thing is that's probably the only time my VDSL connection has dropped during the day in the many years I've had it. Other than forced retrains the only other drops I've seen have been the usual early hours DLM and of course the modem always recovers from those in seconds.

Maybe a crosstalker was connected, then disconnected, but your line didn't pick up the original rate until you resynced the modem?

Both Huawei and ECI lines default to interleaved on DLM resets now.

Ooh really?! When did that happen? Kind of makes sense, I suppose.
