I think isdn is now dead in Germany, as it will here in a few years
Assuming its still ISDN2 in UK (appreciated ISDN30 is a totally different product normally used for PABX connections via a BNC) I am amazed there is still any need for it considering the 2 bearers and 1 delta channel only provides 128K of bandwidth at best.

Theres plenty still out there, fitted 6 brand new channels only a couple of weeks ago.

Its still used rather a lot by the military Im told

Sure-but I find its mostly (maybe always?) used for voice services in the UK nowadays. Its poor value for money as a broadband product and I wonder if BT Wholesale even still offer an Internet service over ISDN2 anyway.

OP here again. Thanks for the contributions. I have dug out the OR modem - it is a Huawei HG612 3B, which I believe is a VDSL2 modem.
The village in Germany is on a new FTTC install, with the cabinet very close to our house. We should get a very large fraction of the 50/10 product we have paid for.

As far as I can tell, I should be able to plug the the modem straight into the new VDSL2 faceplate, then connect it to my network of Hub 5 routers. They are currently all in AP mode, hanging off a Netgear Trek PR2000 (recommended to me on here) which connects to the neighbours' wifi (we pay them). I will disconnect the Trek and turn the router of one Hub 5 back on and set it up with the login details and settings for the new service.

After that, Robert wird mein Onkel sein!

I see you are related to the Sherunkle clan ...

Make sure te modem is unlocked and you can access the internal menu and setting then you will have a chance of some diagnostics.
