There was talk of approx. 1000 handover exchanges versus 5565 actual exchange areas, ( slightly fewer buildings as some have 2-4 areas served from them). The number of handover exchanges may have gone up a bit but unlike to be many more than 1000.

I count 1299 handover exchanges

Far more than most people would assume. I always thought it to be around that many but I�ve never seen the figure.

When the handover and local exchanges are different does the fibre still pass through the local exchange on route to the OLT in the handover exchange?


I never saw it in 10 years of doing the job. They use the easiest route from the cabinets to the handover exchange
