This is interesting - do you know if the FTTC enabled line was installed after the non-FTTC line? Also are you sure they are on different cabinets and it's not some other reason for the lack of FTTC connectivity?

I know of DPs where one block is from one cab, and the second from another. BUT, these are very much the exception rather than the rule.

Thanks for the reply. If I was to order a completely new line (whilst keeping the existing line) is there any possibility at all that the new line would be from the other cabinet?

The non FTTC line is the orginal line.
I'll give a brief explanation of what i think happened.

Cab 44 non FTTC
Cab 48 FTCC

House Number 4 Cab 44
House Number 5 Line 1 Cab 44, Line 2 Cab 48
House Number 6 Cab 48

If the houses are all adjacent, how well do you get on with your neighbours who can get FTTC? Could you get one of them to allow you to have an extra FTTC line installed, and run an ethernet (or point-to-point wireless link) cable to your house?

Do you know how No.5 managed this? Was it just a coincidence that the second line was connected this way or was there something going on at Openreach behind the scenes?

I believe it was luck.
When the second line was ordered FTTC was not available.
It was used for a secondary connection for a home office with ADSL.

Once FTTC was rolled out in the area, I used to check once a month to see when it was available and it only ever became available on one line.
That is when i noticed they were on different cabinets.

The thought has crossed my mind (our FTTP neighbours are the other side of a party wall - so about 10 inches away...)

Unfortunately we are all commercial premises so we are looking for something a bit more secure than a neighbourly agreement
