Originally connected via BT with FTTC [Langport Cab 12] moved to Vodaf Superfast still on same number. Looking to move to another supplier however all other suppliers including BT say they can only offer a service with a quarter of the speed I have now (i.e. not fibre to Cab speeds).
BTW Speedtester has me downgraded too??? - so my only sensible option is to stay with Voda whom I hate after a support spat with a Mr Khan in India and vowed I'd move elsewhere.

Where is the logic in this. There has been a raft of new housing coming onstream on this exchange and I understand things getting tight BUT I have FTTC already associated with my line albeit a good 10Mbps slower than my attached neighbour - Duh!

Cab 12 is being expanded which may be the reason you are getting this message. I don't know off hand if voda uses its own network or its using OR for the vdsl stuff.

I believe Voda just took over the existing line from BT

VF uses its own network at the exchange (formerly C&W). Naturally though between the home, cabinet and the exchange is all managed by Openreach.

Issue is the cabinet is full and waiting on additional capacity/wiring being added.

Providers know this, so should have communicated that to you.

Just to add to that, FTTC/VDSL2 is not "LLU" with any provider.

LLU is where the provider's exchange equipment is in total control of the broadband circuit, including the connection speeds, noise margins, and error correction methods. (In my opinion BT Wholesale is an LLU provider of ADSLx in that respect).

On (Openreach) FTTC and FTTP no ISP has that direct control. It is purely a handover from Openreach to BT Wholesale or the "LLU" provider, via GEA (Generic Ethernet Access) cables. The capacity of that handover link is dependent on how much the provider chooses to purchase from Openreach, so is the first direct ISP control.

There is an indirect control as the provider can choose which of three stability options Openreach applies to the line. These options balancing speed v stability.

Except for those that do sub-loop unbundling, such as Glide (previously known as Warwicknet). They have their own VDSL cabinets next to the PCP. See this thread.

Seeing as you are taking us into semantics , your linked thread is about SLU. Not LLU. AIUI Glide are not participant in LLU in the accepted meaning of the acronym. Local Loop Unbundling is by definition access at the Openreach exchange, to (I believe all) the lines forming the Openreach local loop(s) from that exchange.

I suggest you read the whole of my post that you replied to.

There is no such thing . I suggest you look up "premise" in a dictionary.

As a minor point, Openreach provide VDSL2, not VDSL. I expect the same applies to Glide, but don't know. Whether they use the same band profile as Openreach is another question.

When I talked to another agent @ Sky Broadband she basically said what you said, so some know.

As to when the queue for fibre will be resolved, I suppose that's anyone's guess ??
