I think its probably a case that Openreach have taken advantage of all the roadworks to move ducting, probably saved the huge amounts/ got paid to do it.

Sorry to jump on this thread, but my query is in the same vein. In my area, there's a lot of BT roadworks down a particular main road - here: https://one.network/?117956153 saying to find position of light head. My area is on the Openreach site as FTTP coming soon (have been told Dec 2021) but wondered if anyone knew what a light head is (assuming it is to do with FTTP).

Thanks

It's literally just a traffic light.

https://one.network/?117956151 are the works along the road, those various notifications are notifications regarding rolling traffic lights.

So spoke to an Openreach engineer yesterday who was running a considerable amount of Fibre cable. He explained that the majority of fibre has now been run throughout the town. Impressively Openreach have almost finished bringing the cable from Salisbury, through ducts, some 15 miles. The engineer says that the splicing team arrives beginning of next month. He believes that areas will start to go live within the next couple of months, clearly much earlier than the suggested completion date of September 2021.

I find it so strange that there is no mention of the project whatsoever on any of the Openreach media channels......

I also think it’s quite impressive how they have managed to run literally 1000’s metres of fibre without any disruption whatsoever.

Cool.

I guess the works I mentioned earlier are the last stage in getting the fibre deployed.

If a busy enough road potentially night working is all they can do, and they've been relatively fortunate in having few issues getting the fibre down.

There'll probably be more issues once they start building towards individual properties with blocked ducts but, for sure, it's impressive the pace they are working at and, in many cases, the manner in which they are going about it.

Well in the way of an update, I noticed about 4 weeks ago some roadworks appeared indicating some Openreach works at the southern entrance to tidworth, these roadworks then disappeared from the One, Network and the fibre availability checker said we were now out of scope for the rollout. I emailed Openreach this week who advised the rollout has now been cancelled, and pointed me towards FTTPOD. Not what I was expecting, and a frankly bizarre development as they have spent 3 months running miles of fibre all around the town, frustratingly it passes within 3 feet of my front door!

All I can think is they are holding off due to roadworks on the A338, but I can’t see why they would say it had been cancelled. Openreach have committed huge amounts of resources to the area, I find it surprising they’d just cancelled after all the fibre had been laid.

Specific parts may have been cancelled or put on hold, but not the whole area.

That would make more sense, the address checker is all over the place. One street across on the same development as me is saying “coming soon”, with my road saying there are no plans at all (despite both having fibre already run to them). Will keep my fingers crossed!
