I'm at the other end of the country and I've been watching progression in my area since the spring. I see roadworks and earlier in the year I'd see FTTP become available nearby a few weeks later. But only ever a single postcode, so a duct would be cleared or built and then that single postcode would get FTTP. Not, as you'd expect the whole area. So rollout, certainly here, can be patchy.

Recently I've seen a lot of cable work, new poles and duct clearing on the roadworks website. But I'm not seeing availability suddenly widen. The odd postcode here and there goes live, a few areas have a fair bit of coverage, others just half a street.

So you never know what's happening or when you house or even street may get 'lit', until the engineer arrives with a length of fibre.
