Fibre through Trees!

[link to this post]

Someone posted they had problems due to routing fibre through trees, was walking along a wooded area and came across a pole with the 'caution overhead fibre' label, looking up I saw this, and it was like that for several hundred metres!

I’d wager that the fatter of the two cables, dog legging round the trunk is a copper aerial cable, a ten or maybe a twenty pair.

The thinner cable to the left of the trunk *might* be fibre, or maybe a dropwire.

I’ll agree that miles of overhead will doubtless cause issues … but there is a big ol’ race going on to get fibre rolled out ASAP by the various players ….. cost and speed are king.

Was it in 'Rutland'
there are some just like that and some of them have just been laid across the top of the fence and on the floor. Too bad if the farmer trims the trees.

Same at the end of the private road that serves my connection. Probably 3 pole spans as it runs right through the tree cover. Then again at various spots along the route. It’s been like that for more than 2.5 years now. Touch wood no issues so far. Probably jinxed it now though!!! 🤣

Can’t see the fibre for the trees
