Fibre cab

[link to this post]

Hello all

I’m trying to figure out the location of a fibre cabinet for post code SG13 7AF

The info I have is that the cabinet is also within the same post code, but the user gets 50 download on FTTC and only 130 on gFast which doesn’t make a lot of sense.

I cannot find any obvious BT Cabinet

Do you mean Hertford cabinet 38? Maybe someone here has some internal info. Codelook only gives the postcode.

EDIT: scrub my previous links. This is definitely it here.

Candler - do you have a source for the location of cabinets by postcode or any other means?

that suggests about 350 - 400 metres distance as cable runs form cabinet

I got the cabinet postcode from codelook (enter exchange name and "Locality search", then you can get a list of all cabinets in that exchange area).

It only gives the postcode, not the lat/long, and the pin it drops is just the postcode centre.

Thanks for that - "It only gives the postcode, not the lat/long, and the pin it drops is just the postcode centre." - I was wondering why the locations were not particularly accurate, but very useful indeed. Also VERY useful is the actual map of local postcodes!

In reply to a post by Fastman3:

That looks like a decent correlation based on Google maps from the above (if you presume a straight cable path, no doubling back etc, walking distance)

Useful as the site is, the post code locations for the cabinets are well off-- up to 1/2 a mile. Not a lot of use when cab hunting! Where do they get their info from? Is there a better source?
