Re: Draytek Vigor 2765ac really slow LAN wifi

I just checked and my Thinkpad x390 uses the exact same Intel WiFi adapter. I can get push around 600/650 Mbps though mine on a Speedtest using AC-based access points.

Pop this on your server and then test from your laptop.
https://openspeedtest.com/speed-testing-application-...

Then install the server app on your laptop and test from your server.

Hmm. I would be inclined to boot the laptop into Ubuntu from a Live USB, and test again (and the server too, if it's running Windows)

If it's a new version of iperf (iperf3), note that you can also initiate the tests in both directions from the same side. Add flag "-R" to do a reverse throughput test.

Hi Aferg1233, did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have a 2762ac with really disappointing performance with Lan, WiFi and wan. When I connect an old plusnet router or the supplied BT hub performance is as you'd expect and on the wan side I get the advertised up/down speeds.

This is using a mix of wired and WiFi devices.

I've read around t'interweb and there's a few posts about slow drayteks.. frown

I've been a Draytek user for 12 years now (2850, 2860 and 2865) and from a Router perspective, I find them bullet proof. Features and reliability are excellent. WiFi is just "OK" though with the 2865 being the best its ever been.

For your LAN & WAN problems what do you see? Can you post your Line Stats for your DSL connection?

My personal preference is to split WiFi completely from the routing. All-in-one is neat/convenient but often or not a compromise. Just depends on personal requirements and user’s situation.

Agreed - I have separate APs for everyday use and only use my Draytek Router itself for a Guest & IOT WiFi network (all isolated off of course).

I solved my Draytek wifi issues with new antenna and turning off the DFS channels, see point 5 of this article.

https://draytek.co.uk/support/guides/kb-wireless-5gh...

The DFS seems to be the cause of random connections drops, since turning off channels 52 and above no random disconnections.

The larger antenna improved the 2.4 GHz range, did not do much if anything for the 5 GHz.
