While talking FTTP to a friendly Openreach engineer yesterday who fixed my copper line brought down by last weekend's wind, he happened to mention that in some cases an internal CSP can be fitted if required.
My copper line currently enters the loft about 7m above the ground so when I order FTTP the fibre would presumably take the same route. I would really prefer the ONT to be installed in a landing cupboard where I already have my networking gear, the internal distance to this cupboard from the cable entry point is approximately 8-9m.
The loft is low with no boarding or lighting but I am MORE than happy to pre-install suitable conduit and a pull string all the way from the entry point to the landing cupboard and be on hand on the day to help feed cables up there, as I know engineers aren't permitted to enter unboarded or unlit attics.
Are Openreach likely to be happy with this arrangement so that an internal CSP and the ONT can both be installed in the cupboard, or do they insist that the CSP be located as close as possible to the entry point into the house?
Previous threads here have seemed to indicate that it might be more likely they would run the fibre drop cable down to a standard external CSP near ground level before running the CSP->ONT cable back up the same way to enter the house. However it feels to me that this would involve MORE work than my preferred approach above, and the engineer yesterday agreed. Note that he is fibre trained and has done a number of installations so knows what he is talking about.
What are the thoughts of people here, was my engineer broadly correct or would it most likely end up depending on how the engineer on the day was feeling as to what method was used?
