Worth mentioning that the markets aren't really comparable. In France they can advertise 'up to' speeds and seeing a fair amount of congestion at peak times isn't uncommon. A colleague sees his gigabit service slow to 200 Mbit/s for most of the peak periods.

Our regulations are way more strict and force our prices higher to protect performance.

It's actually been pretty comparable in my experience but I'll admit there's nothing like the BT Wholesale checker (that I've found).Mind you that isn't always reliable (eg in bedsit land where contention can kill speeds).

The only up to speeds advertised have been for ADSL. There's certainly been seen some contention on 4G in our local area but our Free ADSL & Red FTTP has been pretty solid so far as per the latest FTTP BQM:
