Good Evening All,

I was just wondering where the data comes from on the maps, If I select Native OR FTTP the black dots are fairly close, but when I use the BT checker it says FTTP not available. I would like to know so I can keep an eye on it.

My current contract is at an end, and the price has doubled but I dont want to sign up for another 18 months if FTTP is soon to be here.

Being in South Wales very close to black mountains it came as a shock to see the dots getting closer.

If anyone can shed light that would be great.

A single address on a postcode with FTTP will show as a black dot on that street the same as if every single address had FTTP.

If there's black dots around you then there may be an individual address or a small cluster of addresses with FTTP availability.

Occasionally mistakes will happen on the map but it tends to be extremely accurate.

For sure its good work, It is probably just slightly to far away. I had to abandon FTTPod due to the rental costs.

I was hoping to find a better way of locating the nodes so I can calculate the distance from it in the hope I could convince OR to go a little further.

The rental usually isn't the 'worst' cost aspect but typically the excessive construction costs (up front) that turn people off and the potentially very lengthy and convoluted build process.

Looking at the 'excess' rental cost over the minimum 12-month term on FTTPoD contracts - its typically around £50 to £60 per month over a native FTTP service - so say an additional £700 in the first year. With average ECCs prior to the recent revised pricing, being around £8K - the extra rental cost (only applicable for the first year) would be less than 10% of the total cost.

I did yes, it was £15,000 build cost , and £120 a month if you want 500/50 it says premesis passed would be a total of 9.

The think broadband map has a black dot not very far from me. But I can not pinpoint after checking many addresses in area on BT checker they all came up FTTP not available

look into a community fibre partnership. I don't know if the gigabit vouchers apply to wales

Yes they do but not as much as scotland and england
