New FTTP Connection Poor Speeds

[link to this post]

Both myself and my neighbour have had FTTP installed today, I have gone with BT and my neighbour has gone with EE both on the 900Mbps option.

We are both seeing download tests on wired connections of between 500-800 Mbps , However we both are unable to get above 50Mbps on the upload which is half of the 100Mbps we were expecting Do you think this is an install error by Openreach as my understanding is there was no training period on FTTP it was full speed straight away.

Not sure if this is related but we are also not getting IPV6 now which we used to get on FTTC and have tried the usual restart of Hub and ONT but its made no change

No training is required, but the 50M upload limit is a known issue with the way the BT Smarthub is configured by default. This *ought* to sort itself out after a day or two, when their systems remotely reprovision it. If not, you'll have to phone up to nudge them to do it.

BT do IPv6, but EE don't AFAIK. The ONT doesn't participate in IPv4 or IPv6 (it just passes ethernet frames), so there's no point in power-cycling that.

Again: if they haven't remotely provisioned your router to enable IPv6 within a couple of days, get onto them to fix it.

Have you tried to a test direct to the ONT ?.

Nothing happened automatically overnight so I gave BT a call and they have sorted the IPV6 and now have 110Mbps upload.

However we are still having a bit of a problem with download and even with their own tests to the Hub they could only get 680Mbps in multiple tests, I am not sure if they have fobbed me off as said that Openreach monitoring systems will detect that speed is lower and will look into it further but am sure i thought i read on FTTP connections Openreach and suppliers do not do any active monitoring
