Rant - changing provider

[link to this post]

A family member has had broadband from Virgin, came to the end of the contract, and Virgin put the out of contract price up to £58.
Phoning them, the best Virgin would do was a new contract at £44.

So we got on the ThinkBroadband site, and found BT's offer that looked good for her.

Last night she worked through, and signed up for BT's FTTC at £29. All good.
Then she phoned Virgin to cancel their service. Lots of chat but they eventually offered her the same as what she has, for £29
So she agreed to that.

Two problems now - hope BT will cancel the new contract signed up for last night.
And why wouldn't Virgin just have agreed to a sensible renewal price point a couple of weeks ago.

Rant over - thank you for being a shoulder to scream on smile

You should have 14 days to cancel the contract - get on to BT straight away and it shouldn't be an issue. Virgin wouldn't do the lower offer until they had to as many people would potentially have just caved in and stayed with Virgin for an "easy life".

Cheers ian72.
She's put in the online cancellation form (to BT) so we'll see what comes of that.
