Re: Plusnet Fibre v Plusnet Fibre Extra

We are parented on Sudbury exch, 5 miles up the road
Interestingly part of the route is still copper aerial cable hanging on poles
I have never seen any fibre being drawn in on at route

I seem to be thinking that spending another £4/month or £48/ year is not worth the additional speed I will get.

Quite possible that the spine fibre cable that feeds the aggregation node that feeds the local FTTC cabinets (and any other local FTTP) is ducted underground. The copper from the cabinet is then aerial.

Absolutely. Take the cheaper package and your speed will reduce from 57M down to 40M down, and from 17M up to 10M up, but the service will be rock solid as a result.

Those lower speeds are still quite serviceable for general Internet browsing and for a Netflix stream or two, and if that's all you need, why pay more?

Yes, I think it would be wasting good money on this bargain offer from PN
As an exxperiment I loaned a Huawei Mobile router and Sim. I was getting between 65 and 85Mbs from an EE mast in the village
PN Mobile data Sim 52Mbs at £15
Something to think about
