When I get a (happily rare these days) FTTC line dropout, the event log in my router (a Fritzbox 7530 supplied by Zen) usually has entries of one of two types. Type 1:
Internet connection established successfully. IP address: **.**.**.**, DNS server: 212.23.3.100 and 212.23.6.100, gateway: 51.148.77.133, broadband PoP: BNG5.THN-LON-RE0
PPPoE error: Timeout. [4 messages since 28.06.22 01:14:58]
Timeout during PPP negotiation.
Internet connection cleared.
Type 2:
Internet connection established successfully. IP address: **.**.**.**, DNS server: 212.23.3.100 and 212.23.6.100, gateway: 51.148.72.22, broadband PoP: cor2.lond1-vt1
DSL is available (DSL synchronized with 35700/7552 kbit/s).
DSL synchronization starting (training).
Timeout during PPP negotiation.
Internet connection cleared.
DSL not responding (no DSL synchronization).
---
All lines preceded by a timestamp, times getting later going upwards.
Type 1 tend to occur only in the wee small hours, and I've interpreted these as Zen messing about doing load balancing or maintenance or something. Type 2 are more random, and I think these are occasional drops due to noise, interference or whatever.
Am I correct?
