I got FTTC as soon as the cabinet went live - I’m less convinced FTTP will come to my area of Ashington as it’s the less affluent area and FTTP tends to have a price premium for the higher speeds.
That's unlikely to factor into the business calculations. The proportion of people who take the higher speeds is fairly low anyway. The business case for FTTP is not primarily about selling higher speed services; it is around getting people off copper and onto fibre, whilst avoiding loss of customers to altnets.
In less affluent areas, the altnets arguably have an advantage: e.g. if you can get Vodafone FTTP on Cityfibre for 50p a month cheaper than FTTC on Openreach, people will take the FTTP.
