Hi guys,

I see that Trooli have a number of boxes to get their service up and running.

External splice box which then has a small white fibre to another box internally, which then goes to a Adtran XPGSPON, which then goes into their router.

Question is, is the Adtran that has the RJ45 outlet to their router on acting as the 'modem'?

Ill be binning off their router and was going to install my Draytek130 modem, but if the Adtran is serving the same purpose, as a modem i wont bother and just go from that straight into my Edgerouter.

Never noticed those! LOL

Anyway, finally connected and thought i would use the supplied router to get up and running for now and it is garbage. Wifi turned off as i have an AP.

Hard wired everything back in and we have a SKy Q and a mini connected via ethernet and the mini box keeps losing connection to the main box.

Everything was power cycled when connected to the Trooli router and to be fair, most other things work ok, just the Sky that keeps struggling saying 'lost connection to main Sky box' and after a few seconds will come back on.

My thinking is that the trooli router is struggling with throughput as the Sky mini boxes use wifi/ethernet for receiving content to display so obviously cant cope.

When i get home this evening, i will reset the Edgerouter and pump in my PPPoE details and see if i can get that back in the system.

Check on various Sky specific forums as the Q boxes are notorious for acting up when you don't use Sky broadband..

Cheers, but i haven't had their broadband for many years now!

Well, i think as it turns out it was a duff switch.

Set up is modem-router-main switch in lounge - switch in dining room. -sky mini, and it seems that once up and running the mini doesn't use internet for streaming from the main box.

I managed to to the ER working (in place of main switch in lounge) and all seems to be ok now although i am fighting with IPV6 on it at the moment.

So i am either assuming the switch is faulty, or the mini doesn't like the stacking of the switches.

That was kinda my point, the Q box and Q mini's can for some people become hard to pin down when they're not using the autoconfigured WiFi mesh that only works if your broadband is Sky. Hence suggesting looking on Sky dedicated forums.

Yes i do understand however after thinking about the issue, i have just realised we have another mini in the spare room although i didn't try that one, but that is/was connected ..

ER-main switch-sub switch - mini, and was working ok.

But, once the ER is back up and running properly, ill see if that plays up, and in the mean time, browse the sky forums
