Only Openreach fttp. Need to hit 75% availability in the exchange area then they can issue stop sell 12 months later.

However, they can *announce* a stop sell date for an area long before that coverage is actually achieved. To give an extreme example: when the stop sell for Burnley (LCBUR) was announced, it had less than 2% FTTP coverage.

That was in Tranche 7, announced in Jan 2022, with a stop sell date of 8 Feb 2023 - now only two weeks away.

According to thinkbroadband, Openreach FTTP coverage for Burnley (which may not be exactly the same as LCBUR exchange area) is currently 13.97%

I think they missed their target on that one smile

Thats what i'm interested in - what happens to the (up to ) 25% that are not covered by FTTP? Is it just down to the USO obligation, so a 4g connection or alternative supplier e.g virgin media means opernreach dont have to cover the full area with FTTP? Is it any different if you still have a legacy copper product, or are they allowed to stop service?

I might be in this situation soon. I'm not as bad off as some people as we are covered by virgin media.

That's easy: Openreach continue to supply you with copper service (ADSL/FTTC) exactly as before. The copper stop-sell only applies to those properties where FTTP can be ordered.

Separately, your copper service will have to move to SOGEA or SOTAP by December 2025 as part of the PSTN switch-off. There will be a national stop-sell on analogue voice lines from September 2023, but this just means that if you order a voice service, you'll get ADSL or FTTC with a router and a port to plug your phone into. It can still be delivered over copper, if FTTP isn't available to you.

Openreach engineers arrived today, and there is now a fibre cable tied up outside the property - hopefully wont be too long until the internal installation can be booked

Thank you all for your help - i understand the copper stop sell a lot better now as well

That is good news as the duct is now proved hope the internal fit is quick.

Work out where you want the ONT and router to be as you will need power for each. the existing Master socket position may not be the best place.

Internal appointment has been scheduled for 1 March, nearly 3 months after I first placed the order! But at least I have a date and there has been some progress.

Openreach engineers seemed surprised i'd waited so long as it was a straightforward job to pull the fibre, they did it in just over an hour - i'd been told it required a specialist team

Interesting that they didn't do the whole job there and then considering the external work only took an hour. Our install took a few hours due to the complexity and they did it all on the day!
