Sky Q will work fine if you switch broadband.

I’d say the sky router is actually pretty poor - the last time I looked it had only 2 Ethernet ports and the Wi-Fi wasn’t great.

BT’s router gave me a much better local network performance.

The latest router has 4 ports, although one of them is the WAN for FTTP..

They do work with other providers, I had Plusnet with 2 extra boxes. They won't work however if you don't have a multiroom subscription.

All Sky equipment is loaned to you now,(unless you still have old kit, but Q isn't classed as old kit) and it must be returned upon end of contract. If you don't they will bill you £60, but this doesn't mean you now own the equipment, it is merely a "fine" of sorts. Not sure how they keep appearing all over an auction site!

That is a bit out of date. Sky added the option to allow mini boxes to act as extender with any ISP over a year ago. It has to be manually enabled but the caveat is it only works on the 2.4GHz band.

Going back to @KevinM2 query. The mini boxes connect to the main Q box not the router so you will need to do a network reset on the main box and get that connected first preferably with an ethernet cable because on wifi it will only connect to the 2.4GHz band. Then do a network reset on the minis and connect them using WPS to the main box.
