And does it really matter if that is the case?
Pole loading will become an issue, particularly where there are multiple altnets + openreach operating fibre and copper off the same poles. Could see some properties with 3 or 4 drops with copper and a multitude of fibre drops, new and old , as people move between providers.

May I ask a few questions please?
1) If you so desired, can you order an FTTP service at your address
Yes, both openreach and an alternative network called Zzoomm.
2) Assuming you ordered FTTP, would you bring your landline over into digital voice
No, as I don;t use the landline and i have already got a VoIP service
3) Are you currently a SKY subscriber
Nope, not been one for over 15years.
4) With FTTP installed, would you opt to receive all your TV channels over the internet
I don't watch TV as such, I don;t have a Tv licence, i watch subscription streaming services, DVDs and Blue-ray.
If i did watch normal TV, I would not watch them Internet.
5) Would you opt for Broadband and Digital Voice with the same or different providers
As I said above, I already have a Voip system, supplied by Sipgate, so i suppose i already.
6) With FTTP, what speeds would you select
the cheapest, I don't rerally need high speed and as i have said before i am willing to stay with FTTc if the price is right, only looking at FTTP as ZZoomm have gave me a good offer.
7) What typically do you use the internet for
Browsing, email, chatting to people, streaming, downloading the odd game.
8) Your reasons for not using the Microsoft operating system
i still have a computer that runs Windows 10, but I only use it these days for the odd game, the reason I decided to go for a Apple Mac mini is because I wanted a change and also the mac mini is faster, quieter, use less energy and the Os is in my opinion better and less intrusive.
9) The number of pieces of equipment that are connected to your network
a lot, 5 Amazon Alexas for a start, two computers, mobile phone, Roku TV, printer a load of smart home devices. and my Voip
10) What sources of information do you use relating to computing in general
Not sure what you mean by this

To put this into context, Adrian is a serial poster on TB telling us all so much of his installation setup and choices he makes with hardware and which ISP he may or may not subscribe to. Some of what he says, I would like to respond to but then realise I don't have the full picture to advise or comment upon what he says. I asked nothing that should rightfully be kept out of the public domain. I wouldn't ask the same questions (aka survey in your book) of anyone else.
I have been with my ISP for around 6 years maybe longer, it is only recently that I have looking at changing providers.

So does that mean that they never use hybrid drop cables (i.e. copper + fibre optic) from poles to premises?
That is correct, fibre only, I don;t understand why openreach uses hybrid since they don't get rid of the old copper cable

And does it really matter if that is the case? It is probably not financially viable for it to be removed. All BT wants to do is to close down the voice based service over a copper pair. The redundant cabling could well have a future use to control services yet to be invented.
it may not matter as such, but it looks awful, even with the 3 extra fibre cables from the pole by me it looks awful, certainly going past my window.

I don’t understand why Openreach uses hybrid since they don't get rid of the old copper cable
If you are going to have to replace the existing overhead copper span to provide FTTP, why not use a hybrid cable … so if a copper based service is required again, for whatever reason, the leg work has been done already.

Seems to me that your internet usage is not so much different from most of us on TB with one exception of being hesitant in moving over to FTTP, which happens to be available to you right now.
As I understand it your current contract with PlusNet ends soon thus making you entirely free to explore the market place for a FTTP deal that makes you happy.
There is no doubt, you could shoehorn yourself into a FTTP service for a similar price currently paid for FTTC. You immediately get reliability and with little hassle can upgrade to higher connection speeds if, and when, the need arises.
So why the need to create lengthy threads on TB on this straightforward issue? It is not as if you are seeking help and advice from others on the installation process of how a particular problem can be overcome,

So why the need to create lengthy threads on TB on this straightforward issue? Really need to highlight threads in bold as we have seen a fair few from Adrian over the last 6+ months relating to the same subject matter. I suspect Adrian is using the forum more as a diary to register all his daily thoughts/actions.

Is there a price point at which you would accept the "hassle" of people in your house?
